God's Property

Once upon a single day in late-Feb, London’s cultural attractions cache featured a Chuckle-able gala, a pair of comics live-taping LPs for posterity, a brave new play, and a chock-a-block Soho live night. And they all transpired culturally ever after. The end.

It’s Tell A Fairy Tale Day, by the way, and this is that list of ‘cultural attractions’ TW London was just alluding to…

Chuckles For Charity, The Arc, 26 Feb
MCing this philanthropic comic gala in aid of disabled kids charity Newlife Foundation is star of radio and TV Adam Bloom, who’s joined by likeable Crouch End-er Joe Bor and pocket-sized sing-song comedienne Mae Martin. Details and tickets here.

Steve N Allen and Erich McElroy – Exclusive Comedy Album Recording, Comedy Cafe Theatre, 26 Feb
SomeNews satirist Steve N Allen and sharp-tongued ex-American Erich McElroy tape their first ever live LPs, which will be available as free MP3 mementos after the show. Details and tickets here.

White Heat presents… Sky Ferreira, Madame Jojo’s, 26 Feb
Nonchalant pop waif Sky Ferreira makes a coveted live PA at this white-hot Soho night, sidling on-stage last after auxiliary acts Swedish star Faye and London band Pale. Technically, this is sold out, but there’s a chance on-the-day tickets may still be available erm… on the day. Details here.

God’s Property, Soho Theatre, 26 Feb – 2 Mar (pictured)
Talawa Theatre Co AD Michael Buffong directs this stark ‘This Is England’-esque play which takes its intrigue from the cultural and racial divides existing in 1980s London, as mixed-race skinhead Onochie is caught between a desire to ‘fit in’, and his loyalty to estranged brother Chima. Details and tickets here.
