Mark Knopfler

Why, it’s only Bank Holiday again and I have to say, springtime is really spoiling us this year. In entertainment terms, at least. And since we at TW London like to pamper you too, allow us to pander to your exacting cultural tastes via the following comical/musical extravagances…

Richard Herring’s Leicester Square Theatre Podcast feat Chris Addison, Leicester Square Theatre, 27 May
Witty, bright and articulate TV comic Chris Addison – the kind of TV comic you’d take home to ma – is the one in the Herring-hosted hotseat at this, the latest live-taping of Rich’s reliably great Leicester Square talkathon. And what’s more, you can re-live it all ad infinitem by listening again (and again, and perhaps again) at this link. Details and tickets here.

Stand Up For Free Speech: A Benefit Night For Belarus Free Theatre, Comedy Store, 27 May
A plethora of prize comics – Omid Djalili, Imran Yusuf, Mark Thomas, Isy Suttie and Phill Jupitus, one and all – earn their philanthropic stripes by raising a ton in aid of endangered London and Russia-based dramatists Belarus Free Theatre. Details and tickets here.

Mark Knopfler, Royal Albert Hall, 27 May – 1 Jun (pictured)
Dire Straits legend Mark Knopfler is headlining no less than five shows at the Royal Albert Hall this week, and that’s a lot of seats to fill. Like, 30,000 seats. Anyway, he’s kicking off the high-risk stint tonight, playing a set of mixed greatest hits and new titles off his new solo LP, ‘Privaterring’. Details and tickets here.
