Peckham: The Soap Opera

LDN-based arts-lovers, why not start the month as you mean to go on, ie by taking in as many of the following ‘what’s on’ options as possible…

TODAY’S MUSIC CHOICES

Tenebrae – England’s Finest, Egyptian Room at Mansion House, 2 Sep
The Tenebrae Choir and British mezzo soprano Sarah Connolly stick it (in reverential tribute, that is) to the maestros of English classical composition, not least Vaughn Williams, Gustav Holst and Henry Purcell, with a recital of their very finest pieces, even singing a brand new commission by present-day great Judith Bingham. Details and tickets here.

TODAY’S THEATRE CHOICES

Fleabag, Soho Theatre, 2- 21 Sep
A dirty great hit (deemed ThreeWeeks) at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe, Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s explicit one-track narrative finds her voicing a rapacious and morally-comatose nympho whose main manias are dating, drinking, lying, cheating and doing the other thing. A lot. Details and tickets here.

Peckham: The Soap Opera, Royal Court Theatre, 2-14 Sep
Theatre Local, the Royal Court’s lead writers and a cast of amateur actors create a fictional soap opera in ten acts, each its own mini, SE-sited saga based on Peckhamites real life experiences. Will Chi-Chi ever finish rude gyal Monica’s hair? Will Amir discover the secret salon beneath his feet? Where is Linda’s cat Oyster? Find the answers tonight. Details and tickets here.
