TODAY’S COMEDY CHOICES

Tim Key – Works-In-Slutgress, The Invisible Dot, 1 Jul
Abstract articulator Tim Key delves into his lockbox of private rhymes on varying motifs, not least ‘womankind, mattresses and owls’. Oh, and ‘Dolly Parton pre-state music’, so that’s nice. Details and tickets here.

TODAY’S MUSIC CHOICES

Waxahatchee, Rough Trade West/Rough Trade East, 1-2 Jul (pictured)
With a beatifully granular new LP in ‘Cerulean Salt’ on the way – today, in fact – nice-voiced pop beatnik Katie Crutchfield aka Waxahatchee pays equal mind to both London’s Rough Trade vinyl shops, playing in-store West tonight and again tomorrow in East. The shows are free via special wristbands. Details here.

TODAY’S THEATRE CHOICES

A Curious Night At The Theatre, Apollo Shaftesbury, 1 Jul
Actor Luke Treadaway gives back to the font of his Olivier-winning fame – Simon Stephens’ stage adaptation of ‘The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night Time’ – by arranging this gala aiding charities close to its heart, Ambitious About Autism and The National Autistic Society. The evening centres on a new live-action mystery thriller, written especially by Stephens and starring Jude Law and Treadaway (and featuring ‘special appearances’ by Helen Mirren and Matt Smith). There are laughs to be had, too, those c/o Simon Amstell and tonight’s hostess, ‘Great British Bake-Off’ treasure Mel Giedroyc. Details and tickets here.

Short And Stark, Southwark Playhouse, 1-13 Jul
Ex ‘Skins’ scriptwriter Joel Horwood gives the fairytale a darkling do-over via this neat little five-play review; peeling back the fantasy to reveal real-life themes like loneliness, love, vengeance, heartache… and big bad wolves. Details and tickets here.
