TODAY’S COMEDY CHOICES

Gorringe Giggles feat Tony Law/Chris Neill/Meryl O’Rourke, The Gorringe Park, 6 Sep
The legally brilliant Tony Law heads to Tooting to headline one heck of a Friday night showcase, splitting the spotlight with co-stars Chris Neill (of Radio 4 fame) and local heroine Meryl O’Rourke. Details and tickets here.

Laugh For Leukaemia, Kings Place, 6 Sep
With a formidable barrage of stars waiting in line to play this one-in-a-million charity gig (and, in so doing aid Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research), the names confirmed so far are sarcasm kingpin Stewart Lee, impressions impressario Alistair McGowan, Antipodean live-wire Jarred Christmas, sketch freshmen The Pin and Nick Mohammed’s manic doppelganger Mr Swallow. Details and tickets here.

TODAY’S THEATRE CHOICES

Barking In Essex, Wyndham’s Theatre, 6 Sep – 4 Jan (pictured)
Starring Lee Evans as a slippery Essex criminal waiting to leave prison and spend his secret cash-stash, and Sheila Hancock as his steely-eyed ma, the late Clive Exton’s familial caper circa 2005 finally sees the light of day. Details and tickets here.

Secret Theatre – Show 2, Lyric Hammersmith, 6 Sep – 2 Oct
There isn’t a great deal I can say re Lyric AD Sean Holmes’ ‘Secret’ new sect of plays (since practically all details of the entire season are, quite literally, secret), so theatre fans will have to hold fast to the fact that writers Caroline Bird, Joel Horwood, Arinze Kene; actors Cara Horgan, Sergo Vares and Nadia Albina; and creatives Nick Manning, Lizzie Powell and Hyemi Shin are all involved. In what way, I can’t say. Details and tickets here.
