Wu-Tang Clan

Hail, sports fans! I can hardly believe it’s been a year since the Olympic Games came to the capital, and yet, it has. To celebrate, Sainsburys are today staging a three-day Anniversary Games, this featuring last year’s champs and medallists, and IAAF Diamond League action, at the Queen Elizabeth Park.
Sadly all of those days are sold to capacity (they will be televised by the BBC, mind), so instead, the athletic team at TW London have searched far and wide to find the following fast-track cultura alternatives. Ready, steady, go…

Boat Show Comedy presents… Rob Deering/Katherine Ryan/Ian Stone, Tattershall Castle, 26 Jul
Regular Boat Show captain Jim Smallman leaves a grand stand-up  flotilla – TW London’s fave Canadian candy striper Katherine Ryan, the “impish” and “endearing” Rob Deering, and the always-shipshape Ian Stone – to sink or swim tonight at the Tattershall, which is a boat. Details and tickets here.

Wu-Tang Clan 20th Anniversary Tour, O2 Academy Brixton, 26 Jul (pictured)
With a spanking new ensemble LP, ‘A Better Tomorrow’, on its way soon, rap pack Wu-Tang Clan light 20 nostalgic candles on their first LP, 1993’s ‘Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)’. Details and tickets here.

Hyper Japan, Earls Court, 26-28 Jul
Packing in as many ‘J’-related activities and attractions as it can, Hyper shows off Japan’s ever-changing array of fashion, art, shopping and snacks. Highlights of a vibrant live display are ‘Technodelic’ mimes Siro-A, a robotics show c/o ITK and the International Geisha Sayuki. Details and tickets here.

Titanic, Southwark Playhouse, 26 Jul – 31 Aug
Thom Southerland steers this ‘Titanic’ revival of the Tony Award-winning 1997 musical, which is based on real characters who sailed the ‘unsinkable’ ship’s ill-fated voyage. Details and tickets here.
