Jen Brister

Hey Londoners, click on to read details of THE (says its URL, anyway) definitive festival of all festivals – that’s Greenwich+Docklands International (Festival). This riverside landslide of open-air arts, theatre, dance and attractions to appeal to all the family starts today, so that’s one way to pass the time.
The TW London Team find it’s always nice to have options, mind, which is why we’re pleased to present this list of cultural plan As, Bs and Cs…

Jen Brister – Now And Then, Soho Theatre, 21-22 Jun (pictured)
A big kid looking to change her ways, Josie Long’s fave comic card Jen Brister winds back to her naive past – in this, a kind of DIY mid-life intervention – as she moves inexorably towards ‘middle age’. Details and tickets here.

Buzzcocks, Electric Brixton, 21 Jun
Fall in love all over again with punk godheads the Buzzcocks at Electric Brixton (as was once, back in the day, iconic rock cave The Ace) as original players Pete Shelley, Steve Diggle, Chris Remmington and Danny Farrant cite hits old and… not as old. Details and tickets here.

Midnight Matinees presents… The Taming Of The Shrew, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, 21 Jun
Since The Globe’s so magical in the daytime, one can only imagine how magical it’ll be at midnight. If you think you can stay awake, tonight’s 12am-sharp staging of Shakey’s anti-feminist rom-com is your chance to be privy to said midnight drama magic. Call it theatre for insomniacs. Details and tickets here.
