And today’s ThisWeek-tipped, LDN-based events are…

Jane Wenham – The Witch Of Walkern | Arcola Theatre | 5-30 Jan
I have always been fascinated by witchy stuff, and I don’t mean all that new age paraphernalia. As an angry feminist ™, and someone who is very curious about the past, I find the history of witches and witch hunts rather compelling (if deeply upsetting). So this is just the sort of thing that catches my eye. I was even more excited when I realised it’s directed by the lovely and brilliant Ria Parry, and that the script is from award winning writer Rebecca Lenkiewicz. See the venue website here for more info and to book.

Anne Edmonds – You Know What I’m Like | Soho Theatre | 4-16 Jan (pictured)
Award winning Australian comedian Anne Edmonds is part-way through her debut London run at Soho Theatre, so make sure you get booked in before it ends. This show takes a look at what’s going on beneath the surface of people’s normal-seeming lives – so expect dark, exciting and funny stuff, as well as a bit of banjo, from this highly talented up-and-comer. More info and tickets from right about here.

Dog Play Dead | Bread and Roses | 5-9 Jan
This play, brought to you by an edgy, all female company, is “well-scripted, pacy and fizzing with antagonism”, according to one member of our team, who saw it in Edinburgh in the summer, and I reckon you can trust her judgement on this. You haven’t got long to see it (and I wasn’t able to recommend it earlier because of the long lazy Christmas break we were taking) so get your skates on, and click on this link.
