And today’s ThisWeek-tipped, LDN-based events are…

These Rooms | Shoreditch Town Hall | 4-22 Jun
Five days into the 1916 Easter Rising, 15 civilian men were killed in raids by British soldiers on homes in Dublin’s North King Street. ‘These Rooms’, an immersive blend of theatre, dance and visual art tells the story of those events from two perspectives, of the civilians who were victims of and witnesses to the massacre, and of the men of the South Staffordshire Regiment who enacted it. Part of Lift 2018, see the venue website here for all the info.

Yen | The Bunker Theatre | 4 Jun
“Teenage brothers Bobbie and Hench spend their days and nights in mum’s flat in Chelmsley Wood. Home Alone. Streaming porn and playing COD. Mum visits. Occasionally. Then one day Jenny knocks on the door. The boys begin to discover a world far beyond the feral one that they understand and trust. A world full of possibilities and of love, but also one of danger.” Anna Jordan’s Bruntwood Prize winning play, presented by Birmingham based Gritty Theatre. See this page here.

Sancho – An Act Of Remembrance | Wilton’s | 4-16 Jun (pictured)
The London premiere for the brilliant Paterson Joseph’s biographical play about Charles ‘Sancho’ Ignatius: “Born on a slave ship, educated in secret, he became a composer, actor, anti-slavery campaigner, and the first Afro-Briton to vote in a British general election. Sancho’s story casts new light on the often misunderstood narratives of the African-British experience.” Find all the details right about here.
