Five days into the 1916 Easter Rising, 15 civilian men were killed in raids by British soldiers on homes in Dublin’s North King Street. ‘These Rooms’, an immersive blend of theatre, dance and visual art tells the story of those events from two perspectives, of the civilians who were victims of and witnesses to the massacre, and of the men of the South Staffordshire Regiment who enacted it. The London premiere for the brilliant Paterson Joseph’s biographical play about Charles ‘Sancho’ Ignatius: “Born on a slave ship, educated in secret, he became a composer, actor, anti-slavery campaigner, and the first Afro-Briton to vote in a British general election.
