And today’s ThisWeek-tipped, LDN-based events are…

Confidence | Southwark Playhouse | 23 May-16 Jun
“Mixtapes, Argos catalogue Christmas lists, VHS. Crop tops, chokers, disposable cameras, Boundless Theatre is bringing the 90s back. As another summer season on the seafront gets underway Ella is turning up the heat in a high stakes game to get as far away as possible. Whilst Ruby keeps the café going and Dean mans the ice cream kiosk Ella learns there’s no fast track to success.” A production of Judy Upton’s 1998 play, staged “for a new generation of dreamers”. Info here.

Duckie | Theatre Royal Stratford East | 30 May-2 Jun
Yay, another children’s show for half term, cabaret star Le Gateau Chocolat’s first children’s show, a re-imagining of Hans Christian Andersen’s ‘The Ugly Duckling’. Yes, we have tipped it before (possibly more than once) but you know, we’ll tip anything Le Gateau Chocolat does, and there are good reasons why. See the venue website here for details.

The Rude Awakening. Sex, Shame & Liberation | Museum of Comedy | 30 May
International cabaret star Amber Topaz invites you to a “an arousing, amusing, anecdotal romp through life, love and libido. Full of mind blowing, fascinating biological facts. Intertwined with mad musical numbers highlighting the absurdity of human behaviour under the influence of hormones.” Not for the prudish, apparently, but promises to be life-affirming. More here.
