Metronomy

And the LDN-based events the ThisWeek team is tipping today are….

COMEDY: Live At The Chapel w/ David O’Doherty + Tony Law + Phil Wang | Union Chapel | 7 Jun
Perrier-winning mild man David O’Doherty sits amiably in the driving seat at this month’s instal of the always-roadworthy LATC, which tonight also carries zany Canadian woodsman Tony Law, fast-mouthed young gun Phil Wang, and safe bet Ed Gamble. Details and tickets here.

FILM: Sheffield Doc/Fest x BFI | BFI Southbank | 7-9 Jun
Sheffield’s annual Doc/Fest of faction film links up with the BFI to share some of its 2014 programme. Tonight’s bill features the ‘Senna’ creative team’s new film ‘All This Mayhem’ – which charts the rise and fall of Australian ramp skaters Tas and Ben Pappas – and ‘Pulp’, a movie about the band Pulp, and in particular Jarvis and co’s comeback-come-homecoming 2012 show at Sheffield’s Motorpoint Arena, plus live satellite Q&As with the makers and stars of both. Details and tickets here.

MUSIC/FESTIVAL: Field Day | Victoria Park | 7-8 Jun (pictured)
Besides an array of of trendy-indie-fete-style activities, stalls and refreshments, the main asset at this year’s Field Day (which in reality is a weekender in a park) is its elite line-up of international and native indie/rock/pop/rap types, not least Future Islands, Danny Brown, The Horrors, Jamie xx, Neneh Cherry, SBTRKT and Sky Ferreira. Synth eccentrics Metronomy head the bill today, whilst the one, the only, the still-here Pixies close the show tomorrow. Details and tickets here.
