Anthony Jeselnik

And the LDN-based events the ThisWeek team is tipping today are…

COMEDY: Anthony Jeselnik | Soho Theatre | 28 Jul – 2 Aug (pictured)
Anthony Jeselnik is over from the States to fill the Soho Theatre with his own brand of dark stand-up for a six night run, starting tonight. A regular on US TV, including his own show ‘The Jeselnik Offensive’, this is a must-see. There, I said it. Details and tickets here.

FESTIVAL: The Camden Fringe | various venues | 28 Jul – 24 Aug
Our sister mag ThreeWeeks is heading off to Edinburgh this week, but we’re not bitter because, despite what you might have heard, there’s still plenty going on down in London. Much of it thanks to The Camden Fringe, now in its eighth year and so full of comedy, theatre and more that its slightly breaching the borders of the borough of Camden. Details and tickets here.

THEATRE: Drag King Richard III | Riverside Studios | 28 Jul – 3 Aug
Terri Power’s award winning production reworks Shakespeare’s ‘Richard III’ into a black comedy examining transgender identity. The story follows Laurie, as she becomes a he, and her friend La Femme, a lesbian who also plays with her identity, switching between ‘butch’ and ‘femme’, but who struggles to come to terms with the prospect of Laurie’s more physical change. Details and tickets here.
