ThisWeek’s tipped events THIS EASTER WEEKEND IN LDN are…

COMEDY: Adam Buxton – Kernel Panic, Duchess Theatre, 21-25 Apr

COMEDY: Susan Calman – The 68 Comeback Special, Udderbelly, 19 Apr
Only a small pool of stand-ups are capable of packing out the Udderbelly tent without giving out any info on what the routine will actually be about, and the unfailingly smart and funny Susan Calman is one. Things you should know about ‘The 68 Comeback Special’ are that a) Susan is in it, b)  She may talk about cats and jogging, but not at the same time, and c) It’ll be as much fun as you want it to be. And that’ll have to do. Details and tickets here.

COMEDY: The Torriano Preview Mini-Festival feat Lou Sanders + Garrett Millerick + Bec Hill + Sarah Bennetto, The Torriano (Kentish Town), 20 Apr
This entirely free-entry event is a feast of pre-Edinburgh Fringe previews by the likes of side-splitting little gem Bec Hill, the brilliantly unhinged Lou Sanders (and ‘Another Great Show’), brash soapbox comic Garrett Millerick (and his show, ‘The Unbearable Shitness Of Being’), and “exhilerating” entertainer (and “dick”, says Tony Law), John-Luke Roberts. Details here.

DANCE: Eifman Ballet’s Anna Karenina, English National Opera, 19 Apr

As well as the weekend’s main events – balletLORENT’s Carol Anne Duffy-scripted spin on ‘Rapunzel’, and gobbledegook’s interractive fantasy setpiece ‘Deep Into The Woods’ – Sadler’s Wells Theatre’s yearly Family Weekend presents a series of kid-friendly treats, games and activities over the Easter break. Details and tickets here.

FILM: James Dean Season, BFI Southbank, 18-30 Apr

MUSIC: CONVERGENCE, various locations, 18-27 Apr
A series of East London-wide live shows, talks and events linked by a single theme: the ‘Convergence’ (get it?) between technology and art, Convergence will lend its banner to special nights featuring acts like Fuck Buttons, Mount Kimbie, Jacques Greene and Booka Shade; and this year’s Denovali Swingfest, whose line-up includes Anna Von Hausswolff, The Haxan Cloak, Ulrich Schnauss and Hidden Orchestra. And a screening of sci-fi film ‘Silent Running’ with a live-score by 65daysofstatic. Details and tickets here.

MUSIC: Record Store Day In-Stores, Rough Trade East/Rough Trade West, 19 Apr
Rough Trade’s two London-based retailers, and the one in NYC, will play host to some nice noisy parties on this year’s Record Store Day, all three featuring live bands and DJs. Rough Trade East will soundtrack many a vinyl-shopping-trip with in-store shows from the likes of indie superduo Bernard Butler & Ben Watt, plus Toy, East India Youth, Younghusband, J Spaceman, and The Amazing Snakeheads. And Trevor Jackson and Django Django shall spin discs. Rough Trade West’s in-house line-up has Adam Ant, Slow Club, Eyedress and Edwin Collins all playing live. Details here.
